Editing Lesson Blog

Today in media studies we went through a lot of information. We went through the process of checking out a camera and returning it, the editing process, and learning how to use the tripod.
Ms. M let us know that we have to use the same computer throughout the editing process
So that we don’t lose footage or any editing clip. If the team member that has his login to edit and has the account used for editing if he or she is absent the team must know his login to ensure they can continue editing. With the computers used in our class the computers do not read SD cards but they do collect information on the desktop its self.  To start editing you have to put the SD card into the SD card reader then look for your footage in “DCIM”. If the footage isn’t in DCIM your gonna go to private, AVCHD then click on the next folder then go to your stream where you can find all your footage. Highlight the videos you have then drag them into the footage you have on your SD to your folder in order to DUMP your footage. Everyone has to dump footage before turning in your camera. Once you get into the program cancel all the ads. Import the footage from your folder to pinnacle studios or the editing software you are using. Click on the Plus sign and your media footage should pop up. Ms. M said we should always import footage into your desktop to make sure you don’t lose anything.

She showed us the basics of editing. She began explaining what raw footage is and modifying it to the product you want at the end of your post-production period. When you put footage from your camera onto your computer that is dumping. You should then import any footage you’d like to edit and choose what you want to do, you can split-screen, cut, and even use transitions. She showed us how to use coloration, saturation, and visibility. When we film during the day at school if we’d like to make the footage darker as if it was night time you can always change a couple things. You can lower visibility and saturation accordingly to have a realistic look to your footage. Ms.M  showed us how to delete the footage and make it come along as well.

Ms.M taught us how to use a tripod. She showed us how to close and open the legs of the tripod in and out. Doing so will allow your tripod to be higher or lower from the ground. She Brought the legs out and then began placing the camcorder on the tripod. She showed us how to take out the top piece of the tripod off and on by flicking a switch on the tripod and removing the camera from the top piece. She then showed us how to close the tripod and the camera’s properly.
